Met Ball 2015

After finding myself with a lot more opinions on the celebrity's outfits this year I decided to write a quick post on the Met Ball 2015, China: Through the looking glass.

Maybe I never noticed the hype before but it seems like this year there were more eyes on the event than ever before!

The sad part is that I found myself having more looks that I didn't like than I did with the ones I loved...some people either took the theme too literally and others just didn't even seem to notice there was a theme! Strange...Thankfully a few celebs got it right!

Remember, this is just my opinion, I'd love to hear who was your faves!

I'll start with my least favourite and work my way up to number one!

Dakota Johnson in Chanel. Sorry but other than the bag, this dress is irrelevant to the whole event...Looks like she forgot about it until the last minute and just threw on something she had in her closet.

Lady Gaga in Balenciaga. I just have no words! She looks awful! I didn't even recognise her at first.

I couldn't decide who's outfit I disliked more and after having seen the brutal humour of instagram (to the right) Rihanna as an omelette and SJP as the fire, its safe to say they come as a pair. They both just tried too hard and failed tbh. Maybe I don't get it so i can't appreciate their looks.

On the left Cara Met Ball 2014 and to the right 2015, She's already been a rebel and not worn a dress once before so it was just a bit odd to see her in trousers again...at the same event. Not a fan of the fake tattoos either. Preferred 2014 way better!

If it wasn't for the previous outfits before this one, BeyoncĂ© would actually be last on my list. I hated it, the hair, the shoes that don't go with the dress and the dress its self...I don't see it fitting to the theme, its not appropriate for the event, maybe the grammy's would've been better and lastly for  lack of a better word, it looked a bit trashy! Sorry Bey, still love ya  but I just didn't like it! Givenchy gone wrong...

And then there's Bey's sister....what? What is that?! Just no.  Guess she was trying to get the  attention off from last year's gala..well it worked! Another awful mistake.

I am so proud of Kim, this is how to do sheer...Ever since her first met ball, sorry to remind you of that awful dress, she's just climbed up the ladder with more beautiful gowns each year. This one is beautiful! And I especially  love that it was inspired by Cher at the first ever met gala. Roberto Cavalli you're beautiful!

Jlo Jlo...Another sheer dress done correctly and theme fitting! Can't go wrong with Versace. She looked amazing!

My top two best dressed are in Balmain of course! The Balmain mastermind Olivier Rousting dressed himself and Justin Bieber and boy did they look amazing! They totally out did any of the girl's dresses so bow down to them! The detail on both their jackets is incredible!!

Black, Black and a Splash of Paisley

Happy May Glams!

First, I have good news and bad news...bad news is I have one month of uni left filled with exams and deadlines so it's going to be intense and I'll probably be invisible for a while. The good news is, I'll be free at the end of it all which means more outfit posts! Yay!

Moving on to the whole purpose of this post... my outfit!

This paisley print top is actually part of a co-ord set and my plan was to show you what piece I put together with the trousers first but I didn't get a chance to get photos so I promise that'll be the next look I do cos its quite different and great for summer events!

I had to plan strategically when putting this look together because I went for dinner with my boyfriend's parents then 'hit the town' the same night...with my friends, not his parents ;) Initially this would've been an all black look but I just had to throw in something patterned to wake up the outfit and pull it all together(under the advisement of my mother and sisters), thanks to Miss Selfridge and their paisley print top, as well as my never ending love for black and white, we found something!

It had to be appropriate but my belly kept peeking through, which is where the blazer comes in. I looove blazers! Their versatility never seizes to amaze me! Especially with the warmer weather they're so good just to throw over the top of most outfits and still look amazing.

The rest of it is all pretty self explanatory really, my standard jewellery and just a stand-out black bag to go with the almost all black look.

To everyone with exams, I feel your pain and good luck! Everyone else, enjoy your month!

See you one the other side! Xoxo

My leather look jeans will always be with me, for better or for worse <3

After months of drooling over these and apparently "You already have enough shoes, Maria", James finally got them for me for my birthday! So simple, but so perfect!
