Pink and Blue Will Never Do...

...Because the boys will wink at you! ;P

I tend to wear a lot of simple outfits or black and white and thought this would be a bit of a change.

I don't know why it is, but most people think that winter is all about wearing dark colours, and all you see in the large crowds is a sea of grey. Nooo! It doesn't have to be dull and boring guys! Liven it up with bright colours or even pastels as I've done here.

Here's how to make pastels work in the winter, with just a fluffy jumper and patterned jeans. Can't get cosier than this fur ball! I feel like these jeans show exactly what you should be doing over the holidays: Stuffing your face with lots of sweet treats! You can burn it all off in the new year!

Wearing a shirt underneath this cosy pale blue jumper smartens everything up, but what brings this outfit together is the statement necklace. I love the tribal vibe it gives off, not for any reason in particular though,I think it's worth a few winks! haha ;D

My paparazzi shot haha

Sugar, spice and everything nice!

Accesories are everything, statement necklaces to pinks to frills! Toped with a casual style trainer/plimsoll.

Christmas Treats

Hey everyone!

I thought I'd put together a quick post in the run up to Christmas, for all those dinners and parties you'll be attending! I've also included a couple of items from my wish list (HINT HINT!)

So there isn't much, but as I said- it's just a quick post!

Happy Shopping <3

Metallics and leather...need I say more?!All from TOPSHOP

I love the sequin detail on this playsuit- keep accessories minimal though, especially with the high neckline!I just thought the onesie was super cute ;P

My wishlist:

Okay so together they don't look so great but seperately they defo do!! These are my top 4 items.

Playsuit and Coat TOPSHOP
Boots ASOS
Purse TED BAKER

Floral Jacquard Cigarette Trousers

Talk about wanting to make a statement!

Lately all I seem to be buying are cropped trousers, Zara and Topshop are doing some with amazing prints (as shown below) and I highly recommend them. I think the reason I may be so in love with them is 'cos the flowers remind me of spring/summer and it just shows how I really do love summer and cannot let go of it!Although I guess you could make them wintery,I haven't done that yet(watch this space)so I'll leave it up to you for now!

I also love the matching print jackets/blazers that go with these pants (in the process of saving up for one...along with a bunch of other items on my never ending list). I just think together with a pair of 'barely there' heels would be the perfect, most chic outfit! Sigh...

I wore flats this time as I did a fair amount of walking and wanted to keep it somewhat on the casual side, however I still prefer the look with a pair of heels!

Warning:These trousers may well feature again soon, I'm totally obsessed with the print!

Credits to my mom for picking out both the top and the trousers ;).

I kept everything as simple as possible and quite plain, no jewellery and hair pulled back. The trousers speak for themselves :D

A simple gold clutch bag is easy on the eye and compliments the print, one of this season's hottest trends is metallic and shiny leather and this bag fits right in. You could wear pointed pump heels to match if you have any.

This is the cutest top ever! Dress it up,dress it down, I always feel good in it! The beading definitely goes with the crazy floral and this simple blazer isn't over the top. I only recommend wearing a patterned blazer if it is the exact same print as the pants.

Red Shoe Diaries

I should apologise for the amount of times these heels might appear on this blog, but I just LOVE them! They're so easy to wear and SO comfortable! So, sorry I'm not sorry :P

This time I chose to wear them with a playsuit I recently bought, I was a bit skeptical of what shoes may go with it as:

1) it's colour is quite mellow
and 2) the style/cut.
But I think that was me over thinking things cos this bad boy matches anything! For this occasion I resorted to my lil red devil heels :) though if you wished, you could wear the playsuit(or something similar) with a pair of biker boots and a baggy jumper or leather jacket with a backpack to grunge it up OR you could keep it cute with a pair of nude flats.

I chose to wear a red lipstick again to match the shoes and stick to a sort of "color scheme" but I figured this would be too basic and expected.I went all out and threw in a third color,PINK!: Pink accessories helped to pick the outfit up...and to keep it quite sweet looking (I'm not that ready to let go of my childhood yet! :P)I used a hot pink bow in my hair to holdup my bouncy curls and had hot pink nails to match. To compliment the hot pink without overdoing it all,I chose to have a more pale pink bag with a sweet little heart on it. Cute right?! :D

You could swap the red and pink round or mix and match, just have fun with it! If I could, I'd wear blue heels with a blue bow- plain nails though and no third color as the blue is quite POP-Y and statement enough.I'd still stick with the same bag though, seeing as the playsuit is kind of pink-y!

So here it is...

I seem to have lost a left foot haha, ignore that!;)

The bow isn't actually meant to be tilted- but it'll do! And sadly my curls had dropped a little so make sure you makes yours tighter and use TONS of hairspray- inspired by Ariana Grande.

I kept jewellery to a minimal as usual but kept in trend with the midi rings!

Trick or Treat?

Another great excuse to have a party and go crazy on costumes...IT'S HALLOWEEN GUYS!!

As Halloween is right around the corner, I thought I'd give you a quick bit of inspiration, whether your outfit has been planned for months or you're still frantically searching for an idea or maybe like me, you're not going all out this year, then keep hold of this page and start planning now for next year! Haha, you can never be too prepared :P

This year I'm sad to admit that I haven't created anything new, nor have my previous ideas been out of the box creative! These first images are my only attempt to celebrating halloween this year, with my dinner outfit and coming home to snuggle on the sofa and watch a scary movie.

So despite my lack of creativity, I've put together a few pictures of the last couple of years with the help of my friends and family in their outstanding outfits. From witches to over the top patriotic its all here(kinda)!

I hope you enjoy, be sure to keep checking Glam Chowder FB(scroll to bottom for link) page for any other inspirational pics!

Nothing says halloween more than LACE! I kept true to this by wearing a lace lined body top and gold lace skirt, to add a bit of twist I thought i'd wear my cat ears too. The pearls on them keep the outfit still in theme, yet with an elegant twist.

(As its already freezing here I wore tights but this would also be perfectly fine without them for the summer! :))

I love these boots because you can dress them up or dress them down(as well as being comfy!), and they're not over the top with the animal print. Perfect for halloween, don't you think?!

Monocromatico

The less I blog, the harder I find it to start a post and come up with cheesy names for them. It's sad, I know, however I will still succeed...!

After researching a number of ways to say 'black and white' in a more cool and less blunt way, I decided on 'Monocromatico' which simply means Monochrome in Italian ( A language I would looove to learn!). Its a mouthful to say but I thought it sounds pretty cool aha!

Before I get more side tracked, here's some info about this 'Monocromatico' outfit:

Rule number one of wearing black and white: ALWAYS add a block color to spice up the look.I chose red- surprise, surprise! A color I love to add only with little accents because if you ask me, thats when it looks best! Lips and shoes. Its fun, flirty and foxy! haha ;D Might I suggest wearing or saving something similar for Valentines day, ladies?!

Hope you like it!

Sorry bout the lighting of the pics, tried to adjust it but they came out worse so this will have to do for now!

I kept it casj with jeans as it was just a dinner,  tucking in the top to make it that tiny bit formal for the evening. I rolled up the jeans to accentuate the heels and make them more visible for the full effect.

I kept jewelry to a minimum and only  wore my rings as the top is an accessory itself with the bow.

I loved these heels so much, I had to get them in black too! Comfortable and versatile = perfection!

Loose curls to add to the flirty and fun theme!

Where'd she go?

Hey everyone!

I hope you're all doing just fine!

I just wanted to write a quick post and  apologise for my sudden disappearance: school has seemed to swallow me up, once exams were over I then had work experience where I worked in the city and was completely shattered after the nine to five day. Being a working girl is quite tough, but totally worth the experience!

Besides, it gave me an excuse to dress fancy every day ;) haha! I'm not going to make a post about my outfits during that week, however I posted one of my favourites on the Glam Chowder FB page so go ahead and check that out!

On the brighter side of life, SUMMER HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED! 2 days in and I absolutely love being on holiday and doing nothing at all!  Don't be alarmed though, I am going to be doing something with my summer, in fact I am currently (at the time of writing this) on a flight to ESPAÑA woop woop! I absolutely love Spain not only for it's culture but it's FASHION! I'll only be there about a week but will be back later in the summer, cannot wait!

Now for the big news: I some how managed to land myself a three week internship at the hottest online clothing store right now....drum roll please....ASOS! *And the crowd goes wild!!!* I am so grateful to have this opportunity and am intrigued to see what doors it opens for me.  I shall be starting on the 29th! Sooo excited! :D

So that's my summer plans, I wanna hear all about yours  and see pictures too! I will try post as much as I can especially what outfits I'll be wearing during my internship(watch this space) and hope to help inspire you!

Take care of you,

Besos,

Maria Xx

Peach Upside-Down Cake!

YUM YUM YUM!

I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of fruit cake - BUT I tried out this recipe and absolutely loved it! It's not too heavy and it makes a change from the same old Victoria sponge.  The great thing about it is that you can change the fruit on top, to any other canned fruit. I'm sure you could use fresh fruit however, there may be slight alterations to the recipe, experiment!

I got this recipe from a website (link below) and altered it only very slightly by adding sliced almonds instead of powdered ones as it added to the texture of the sponge.

Here's some images of how I made this little slice of heaven:

Ingredients. TIP: Don't forget to line your tin or it will stick-not fun to clean up!

Waiting for the sugar and water to caramelize was a little tedious, so be patient! Pattern your fruit any way you'd like to create a cool effect once it is cooked.

By the time you've made your batter, the peaches and caramel should be solid enough to not mix with the batter once you pour it, if not, leave it for about 5 minutes.

Voila!

Ice-cream, custard or whipped cream - take your pick and indulge!

I hope you try out this recipe, it's not too difficult and definitely worth it!

Enjoy! Xx

Oh yes it's ladies night!

...And the feelings right!

Sorry about yet another cheesy title, but you have to admit that Atomic Kitten never gets old!

As May 1st marks the start of summer I have chosen to show you a trendy, evening/day, spring/summer outfit all in one! I wore this outfit to dinner with my girlfriends over the weekend (hence the title 'ladies night'), as we finally started to see signs of spring here in England - a few weeks too late considering we are officially into summer now, but still, adios winter!

Personally, I think this season's peplum trend is so cute especially as it fits pretty much all body shapes and is really flattering. I want more of these in my wardrobe, don't you?

I wore the trend with jeans because even with the sunshine, the air was still a bit fresh! But as those warm summer nights kick in, it would work just as well with a plain coloured skirt (more on that next time though!).

The top makes the jeans less casual and brightens the faded denim. I paired this outfit with sky-high heels, which match the print of the top, instantly making this a fun dinner outfit, or you could dress it down with flats too. As the top is a statement on it's own, I wore a very simple necklace and simple purse with gold accents to compliment it.

Summer Desires

OH SUMMER PLEASE WOULD YOU HURRY!??!

I don't know if it's me or if everyone else feels like this too, but summer just couldn't come sooner, could it? I cannot wait to be soaking in all the sunshine whilst enjoying a cookies and cream ice-cream cone bought from the local chocolate shop in Gerrards cross, absolute heaven!

I have put together a few outfits from various stores to give you all (and myself)a little inspiration for your summer outfits this year. In other words;these are the clothes i MUST get my hands on for summer!

There are five different outfits for you, whether you plan on going out or are just trying to keep it casual during the warm days.

*Useful tip:To add a little excitement to your outfits, try experimenting with various textures to get that VA VA VOOM look!*

Goodbye to dark miserable clothes and hello to whites, color blocking and florals!

Whites, tans and gold: ideal for a chic look.

All RIVER ISLAND

WARNING: This one's a little harsh on the wallet. A splash of color and the gold lining spice up this formal jumpsuit, add the hat during the day for a more summer look. You could even go the extra mile and do the whole massive sunglass celebrity look if you dare! ;P

RIVER ISLAND JUMPSUIT
H&M HAT
KURT GEIGER BAG AND SHOES
REISS BLOUSE

Playing around with texture: textured pants and a sheer shirt or blouse usually agree with each other, paired with a simple leather bag and shoes for a sophisticated day look.

ALL TOPSHOP

Playsuits are always fun to mix and match! Picking a floral/patterned one is bright enough but pick up the outfit with a bright bag and shoe or if you're not up for that accesorize with neutrals.

NEW LOOK SHOES
ASOS BAGS AND HATS
BOOHOO.COM PLAYSUIT

Lazy day: this is a simple yet funky daytime outfit, I just think the earrings are fun and quirky! Keep it 'hipster' by wearing the headband with your hair down(and often doing a peace sign pose haha).

TOPSHOP TOP,SKIRT & EARRINGS
SUPERDRY SHORTS
ZARA HEADBAND
CONVERSE SNEAKERS

Have fun creating your outfits and don't be afraid to try out odd things you normally never would!

Smile,
Maria Xx
